Wednesday night is Jazz night at the Mick, part of the Delaney House off of Rte 5 in Holyoke, not far from Northampton. This Wednesday, November 4, from 6-9 pm, Barbara will be joined on stage by Miro Sprague – piano, George Kaye – bass, and Jon Fisher – drums for an evening of fine jazz. Join us at the Mick!
Freddie Bryant’s Jazz and Tai Chi Workshop will conclude this weekend with concerts at the Arts Block Cafe on the corner of Main and Court Square in Greenfield, Mass. Freddie performed on Barbara’s CD Detour Ahead. Barbara took Freddie’s workshop this week and will be performing at the 2 pm show.

4 pm – Freddie Bryant and the Kaleidoscope Trio (from NYC) with Willard Dyson – drums, Martin Jaffe – bass and Bryant playing Telecaster, nylon and 12-string guitars.
After my gig with the Roger Saloom Band, I’ll be heading down to the Clarion Loft Lounge to catch what I can of one of my favorite jazz vocalists, Shiela Jordan. Sheila came into her own during the Charlie Parker era and has been performing ever since. If you don’t know her work, here are two You Tube clips from 1962.

Giacomo Gates was the featured artist the Northampton Jazz Workshop. He is a marvelous voacalist. He’ll be back October 22nd Tuesday evening. Check out his new CD Miles Tones. He’s a nominee in Downbeat Magazine’s best artist categories.
On September 6, 2013, I performed at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, Mass. as part of the Northampton Jazz Festival and celebrated the arrival of my first CD, Detour Ahead.
