In her ‘spare’ time, Batbata is now learning to play the bass, and in addition to instruction has joined the Pioneer Valley New Horizons Band to gain experience playing in ensemble.
The Northampton Community Music Center will be presenting A Winter Concert featuring the Pioneer Valley New Horizons Band directed by Nancy Janoson with Special Guests: Joyful Chorus, Nancy Janoson director.
This free and open to the public (masks required) concert will be held on Tuesday December 13, 2022 at 7 pm at the First Churches of Northampton.
A concert, hosted by Matt Marotte, to benefit the Plainfield Historic Society will take place on Sunday afternoon, August 21, beginning at 1:30 pm. The concert location is 296 Main Street, Plainfield, Mass. Well, maybe not ‘thousands’, but it’s quite a line-up of area jazz vocalists and musicians. Donations to Smith Hudson House Museum much appreciated. Parking is right next door in the parking lot behind the Smith Hudson House. You are welcome to bring snacks — food and drink!

Performing outdoors and donning masks, the Valley Jazz Divas – Barbara Ween, Jill Connolly, and Carol Abbe Smith joined with Wanda Houston and company at The Deck Bar, Union Station, Northampton, Mass on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. This was Barbara’s first gig since the pandemic began. Hope you enjoy this video clip!
The Barbara Ween Quartet will be performing at the Vermont Jazz Center as part of Purim Palooza 2020 celebration organized by the Brattleboro Area Jewish Community. All are welcome. Suggested donation – $10 (No one will be turned away for lack of funds.)
The celebration will take place on Saturday, March 7 from 7 – 10 PM. The Quartet will perform from 8 – 9:30 pm featuring Barbara Ween on vocals, Eugene Uman – piano, Jamie McDonald – bass and Chet Pasek on drums. There will be games, storytelling and more, pastries, snacks, beverages including beer and wine and when the music starts there will be R&B, swing, blues and jazz. Come and join the celebration.
