Beth, Barbara and Carol at the Blue Room

Barbara will be performing in Easthampton
at Carol’s Vocal Jazz Night on Wednesday Dec 14, at 7 pm.

This live evening of jazz will feature guest vocalists Beth Raffeld, Barbara Ween and Carol Abbe Smith with The Green Street Trio: Paul Arslanian on piano, George Kaye on bass and Jon Fisher on drums.

Carol’s Vocal Jazz Night is on Wednesdays at City Space’s Blue Room, 43 Main St. Easthampton Old Town Hall. Tickets are $20 available at CitySpaceEasthampton.org.

Barbara on Bass: New Horizons Band

In her ‘spare’ time, Batbata is now learning to play the bass, and in addition to instruction has joined the Pioneer Valley New Horizons Band to gain experience playing in ensemble.

The Northampton Community Music Center will be presenting
A Winter Concert featuring the Pioneer Valley New Horizons Band directed by Nancy Janoson with Special Guests: Joyful Chorus, Nancy Janoson director.

This free and open to the public (masks required) concert will be held on Tuesday December 13, 2022 at 7 pm at the First Churches of Northampton.

Sunday afternoon,’Cast of Thousands’, Jazz Benefit Concert in Plainfield, Mass

A concert, hosted by Matt Marotte, to benefit the Plainfield Historic Society will take place on Sunday afternoon, August 21, beginning at 1:30 pm. The concert location is 296 Main Street, Plainfield, Mass. Well, maybe not ‘thousands’, but it’s quite a line-up of area jazz vocalists and musicians. Donations to Smith Hudson House Museum much appreciated. Parking is right next door in the parking lot behind the Smith Hudson House. You are welcome to bring snacks — food and drink!

Vocalists include: Barbara Ween, Matt Marotte and Deva Varela with Don McMahon on piano, Pete Grimaldi – trumpet, Ed Mari – woodwinds, Dave Sporny – trombone, Frank Varela – guitar, Steve Bulmer – bass, and Chet Pasek on drums and our special guest vocalists Leslie Alexandra and Peter Newland!

Great location, great music, great time of year and an excellent cause. So please join us for this Sunday afternoon of great jazz and good will!

Our Last Gig at the Court

The Collegian Court will soon be closing its Chicopee location, and Friday evening will be our final gig there. So come and celebrate a fond farewell to the Court this Friday, June 10, 2022 from 6 pm to 9 pm. Barbara Ween on vocals, will be joined by Ed Brainerd – flugelhorn, Bobby Ferrier – guitar and George Kaye on bass. Please join us for some great food, drink and lots of jazz. Our deepest thanks to the Court management, staff and of course patrons for many memorable nights of jazz performance.

Barbara, Carol, and Green Street Trio are Back!

The Paradise City Arts Festival – 2022 is back at the Northampton fairgrounds on Memorial Day weekend. And on that Sunday, May 29 from 12 to 4 pm, guest vocalists Barbara Ween and Carol Smith will join the Green Street Trio featuring Paul Arslanian on piano, George Kaye on bass and and Jon Fisher on drums. They will be performing under the tent on the main stage in the food court. So bring family and friends for some great jazz and all that the festival has to offer!

This year, it’s a double birthday celebration for both Barbara Ween and Steve Moser, our two resident Pisces musician friends!
